Steve Runnels and I were leading a Klamath Bird Observatory field trip to Agate Lake, but we took a quick side trip to see the Medford White-tailed Kites.  Birds we saw before we got to Agate Lake: WT Kite, Kestrel, Lesser Goldfinch, Mourning Dove, Robin, Red-tailed Hawk, Great Egret, House Finch at Lincoln School.  On North Foothill: Red-shouldered Hawk, Brewer’s Blackbird, Great Egret, Harrier.  Seen at several locations en route: Starlings. The goldfinches and House Finches at Lincoln School were legion, densely flocked in the thistle and other high weeds gone to seed.
