Klamath Basin birding

Winter Wings kicks off tomorrow.  I have a couple of talks to give on Saturday.  One about milestones in American birding and ornithology.

Today I got in some afternoon birding.  A quartest of Bald Eagles around a bit of carrion in a distant pasture.  And their mini-accomplice, a Black-billed Magpie.img_5725

Above a deer at Topsy on the Upper Rogue River. Below Ring-billed Gulls on Lake Euwanna, Klamath Falls.  But then there was the other gull.rbgulls2-121

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

hyrbidgull2-132I finally decided this was a first winter California Gull.  Flat head, dark patch around eye.  Also a regular wintering bird here.
